Alfred Place Urban Redevelopment, London

PROJECT BRIEF

The project was based in the heart of Central London. The objective was to identify the urban issues in a specific strip, and then to locate the most inefficient part in that area, which had the maximum potential to make positive contribution to the surroundings.

The proposal then suggested making a new intervention which comprised three pronged programmatic: incubator offices, place for interaction and open/ green space. The defunct Alfred Place Street was chosen as the site for this intervention, which was currently used inefficiently as parking or service area, whereas it enjoyed high level of connectivity, prominent location and interesting history, which together provided it potential to play a better role in the city urbanism.
